How goes it?

Unread postby train » 28 Dec 2017, 07:07

Hey guys!!

Popped in here just to check in and there hasn’t been one of these sort of life update threads for a while!! And since it’s almost 2018, I figured I’d throw one up!!

Lots of stuff has happened in the last little while, some good some bad, but let’s not think about the bad D;

In May I graduated from college and got a bunch of job offers through the industry day film screenings, but none of them were in Toronto... so, I’ve moved to Vancouver! I started working at Titmouse Canada as a junior Animator in June and am on my second show there. Right now I’m animating on the caprain Underpants Netflix series that’s in the works and it’s super cool!! Life’s been crazy stressful and I’m just getting the hang of managing stuff but it’s been good. There’s no sun in the winter in Vancouver so that’s making some big hits to some seasonal depression, but I’m managing ok!

Here’s to 2018, May the good shit keep on, keeping on... and let’s hope all the bad crap that’s happebed gets a whole lot better!

How’ve all you guys been doing?? ❤️

I've graduated with my bachelor's in Culinary Management as of Dec 14th. Moved into my new home... Yeah, actual home. I got lucky, dude sold it for half the appraised value because he was in a rush to get rid of it so he could move into his own new home. So I've been getting things cleaned, upgraded and furnished. It's been super fun, but damn carpets are expensive lol. I need one for the bedroom.

I'm glad you're still doing well. Was keeping an eye on this site to see if anyone posted this year. Happy it hasn't been forgotten yet.

Edit: Oh, right! I got to see the Final Fantasy 30th anniversary orchestra in Toronto, Canada this month too. It was one of the most emotional nights of my life. They even played You Are Not Alone from FF9. I have a lot of memories from that game so I was really hoping they'd play it, and they did. Damn near teared up, honestly.

Well hey there to both of you. It has been quite some time since the last time I made a post on here (maybe too long).

I must admit, the year 2017 was quite a busy one. I graduated from college (finally!) and was able to secure a job thanks to the internship I had during my senior year. Sadly, I now live in the terrible state of Utah (I really hate deserts). At least I now have a job that I actually enjoy doing (I'm an Oracle Database Administrator). I also adopted two ferrets (which are amazing, I might post pictures later).

Looking forward, in 2018 I am hoping to save enough money to actually buy my first home and hopefully settle down (but not in the sense of getting married). If I do manage to buy a home the server will be moving out here to Utah also (right now it is in Maryland). So be prepared for 1-2 weeks of downtime if that happens (unless I just build a new server altogether, which might happen since it is getting dated).

Overall, last year was quite a good one and so far this next year looks to be even better.

Dang! everyone graduated in 2017 - how did that line up so perfectly? Ahh, everyone's moving on so well with their lives - its so exciting! I can't even remember what it was like being a kid, back when I joined the old forums.

But holy cow, I can't even think about buying a house - I've got a mountain of student debt, and on top of that, housing in Vancouver is horrifically expensive. It's much be fun designing rooms and stuff tho! But damn, if I still lived in Toronto we could have grabbed dinner or something D; I've been to the Zelda orchestra in the same concert hall of the FF one and it's always to heartwarming and touching!

(Also that first post was a mess of typos :/ That's what I get for typing on my phone gdi)

That would've been nice! I stopped by some sort of... Goose Island place? It had locally brewed beers and the best braised beef tacos I've ever had.

More good news too! I just recently got hired at a casino. Best pay I've ever been offered along with full benefits! Health, dental, vision, retirement... It's amazing. I can finally afford to go back to the doctors and get the tests I need. Everything is going so amazingly well, I'm half expecting to wake up! I don't start for like two more weeks because of background checks, physicals, security, etc... But that first paycheck is gonna be amazing.
