This weekend, from Sept 3 to Sept 5, there MIGHT be some downtime. It depends on the hurricane that is heading towards my home. If it hits then there likely will not be any downtime. If it doesn't then there will be.
This might seem backwards, but the reason is that I have purchased some hardware upgrades for the server. If the hurricane hits then I will not go home over the weekend for the upgrades, if it doesn't then I will. If I upgrade the server then I will be doing a complete reinstall to add some additional levels of security. While there are currently no real security issues with the server, I am simply wanting to make sure that none can try to sneak in.
For those that hate to read...
Hurricane hits = no downtime until thanksgiving.
Hurricane doesn't hit = downtime while server is upgraded and reinstalled.
Either way = your credit card information that i stole wont be stolen by anyone else.
Sorry for any problems this may cause. I should be able to tell you if there will be downtime for sure by thursday, Sept 2. It is kinda late notice, but im not a god of the weather, only a god of the server... or something like that xD

Well, if your reading this then you must realize that the site is back up. Hopefully there wont be another long downtime like that again for quite some time.
You might notice the site is slower then it used to be, well thats because it is. Our internet available out here is about 8 times slower then at our old location (and no, im not joking, it really is about 8 times slower). So, sorry about that.
Some stuff that will happen in the future now:
I start school in a few days and will be living on campus. So I might become even less active on the forum.
The server itself is getting old (a little over 6 years old now). So there are tenative plans to upgrade some of the hardware on it over Thanksgiving. There will be some downtime related to that.
After the server is updated I will be upgrading these forums from version 1.4.13 to version 1.6.0
I think that covers most of the major stuff that will happen in the future. Enjoy the forums
Please note that during the period of downtime for Burke-Works while I am moving the forums will moved to Mudkipz. You will still be able to go to burke-works.com as normal though because I will set it up to redirect to Mudkipz. Although the exact dates that the downtime will occur during is unknown, downtime will likely start on July 27 and last through September 3. July 27 will be the earliest that the server will be shutdown. However, September 3 is a very tentative date for when it will come back online. August 30 is when we close on the new house and we hope by the end of that week to have internet available there. However, it is possible that it will take longer. Mudkipz will keep everyone updated on the status of Burke-Works so stay tuned there!
Thanks for the understanding during this hectic time.

ok, i could go into a lot of detail about why im posting this and stuff. but im lazy and dont feel like typing that much. so, i will cut to the chase.
The house that i am living in has sold and will be closing on July 30th. That isn't a problem really, but the problem is that the server hosting this website is located in before mentioned house. therefore, a choice must be made. do we want to keep Burke-Works alive or should it end as we know it in july sometime?
for those of you that want to know more then continue reading. i will be moving to maryland due to work and school related reasons. the exact date that i will be moving i am not sure yet. there is no problem with moving the server with me and continuing to host the website. i just want to know if everyone still wants it or not.
hey guys, i have some updates to install on the forums. i intend to install them later tonight, so expect around 1 hour of downtime. sorry for any problems this might caused...
[UPDATE] upgrades are complete, let me know if you find anything wrong with the site

ok, first off. many of you have noticed that clans have been readded, so i hope to see many people participate in that. i intent to create my own clan once this semester of school ends so that i will actually have time
second, many of you remember me talking about making a web-based clan game. well i am still working on it, just very slowly due to homework taking a lot of my time. i have also made many changes to it from what i originally intended, so i hope everyone is looking forward to the surprise
third, there is a contest that i am hosting that you can get paid some real cash! check it out here!
lastly, i was making a game that was going to be non-browser based. although it isn't canceled, it is on hold until i graduate from school because it takes too much time. i intend to continue writting some of the story for it though as i have rather enjoyed doing so. but the BW-Game category on the forum is going to disappear until i have time to dedicate to making the game. hope everyone understands...
Clans have been added to the forum for fun. Create/Join a clan and participate in competitions against others. If you are bored than you should definitely join >=D

As some of you may have noticed, Burke-Works has been down for the last few hours. Sorry about that. Lets just say that the last thing you want to hear after a 12 hour day at school is that the server crashed and one of the hard drives went bad.
However, the good news is that no data has been lost due to the drives being in a raid. In addition to that, it just so happens that we had 2 extra hard drives not in use, so now the 2 old 250 GB are in the process of being upgraded to some 320 GB hard drives (just so happens those 320s are the ones that were replaced with the 1TB drives earlier).
So, all in all, it could have been worse. But, we are up and running again. However, there will be about 30 minutes of additional downtime tomorrow as I finished changing all the drives to the new ones. Hopefully we wont see any more hardware failures for a good while now.

Happy New Year! (belated)
The theme is actually still under works, but the main gist and look is pretty much finished.
Only thing needed to be added are a few buttons linking to some areas, button images themselves, myplaza in profiles and threads, and I think that's pretty much it.
